“Sometimes I wish I was someone other than me Fighting to make the mirror happy Trying to find whatever is missing Won’t you help me back to glory
…
You make me beautiful You make me stand in awe You step inside my heart, and I am amazed I love to hear You say Who I am is quite enough You make me worthy of love and beautiful”
"I’m writing a song on it right now. It’s specified for a friend in particular but it’s for everyone. I look at some of these girls posting stuff about how they don’t think anyone could love them for who they are and they can’t imagine a boy spending time or effort on them, and I can’t believe it, because the girls posting it are some of the most beautiful, wonderful, most loving, caring people that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. so ladies, let’s stand up and realize we don’t need to lower standards and feel alone and unwanted. These guys are not worth it. We need to know that we’re daughters of the Most High King, and He finds us beautiful. and that’s all that matters."
I made this video spur of the moment although it has been on my heart for awhile. I know there are other girls out there who struggle with low self esteem. I’ve come to the conclusion that most of my friends believe that I am very confident person. The truth is that I wore make up and took a lot of pictures to post on Facebook and Tumblr, to help myself realize that I am beautiful…even if I had to fake it. Well I’m done faking it. I’m done feeling like I have to live up to even my own standard of beauty. No, I’m not pointing the finger at the media. It’s all an internal struggle that I’m asking God to help me with. And no, I’m not calling myself ugly. Even I know that would be a lie coming from the devil. It’s all about acceptance, and I’m finally being able to accept me for who I really am and what I really look like. And if you know me in real life, you know that taking my glasses off is a big deal!
“All beautiful you are, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” -Song of Solomon 4:7
beautyiswhoyouare: Her vulnerability is courageous, I love it. She gets it. Beauty is loving what makes you different than everyone else, not loving what makes you the same. She’s right, she is flawless and made in the perfect image of God. Ladies makeup, jewelry, and clothes don’t make someone beautiful, but rather beauty is how you live and love. It’s not what you look like, it’s who you are….
“The king is enthralled by your beauty” -Psalm 45:11
"True beauty is accepting others fully. I’m not talking about agreeing with everyone or loving their lifestyle. I’m not talking about taking on and accepting other peoples beliefs as your own. I’m talking about not letting what they say, believe, or how they live affect the love and acceptance you have for them. Acceptance is about putting the value of a person above their belief system, opposing opinion, or even their flaws. True acceptance is like saying, “I accept you fully because of who you are, not because of what you say or do. You’re a person who is unconditionally loved and accepted by God, and thankfully Jesus died for sinners not saints.” Passing judgement is not our job, but offering full acceptance to others is. Unconditional love and acceptance are beautiful…"
"Beautiful people are those who live selflessly and love unconditionally. They give generously and accept others fully. They forgive quickly and breathe slowly. They live not by their strength but by God’s. They are people who shine, because they have a joy and peace about them that radiates, it’s completely contagious. They know who they are and they are confident in who God says they are. These people don’t let others determine their sense of self-worth nor do they let them define who they are. The best example I can think of when it comes to true, eternal, radiant beauty is Jesus; he did all these things and much more. Jesus is beautiful in every meaning of the word, people were and are drawn to him, Not because of what he looked like but because of who he was and is."
"Looking and acting like everyone else is Not beauty, that’s called imitation. Looking and acting like You is real beauty; this is the kind of beauty that radiates in a glorious way and this is the kind of beauty that makes a difference in the world. If we were supposed to all look the same, we would, but we don’t so stop trying to look like him or her, when the best version of you is YOU."
"When you’re defining something like beauty to others or to yourself, make sure it’s what you truly believe and not what you’ve simply been told or taught by the media or popular opinion. Going with the flow of things is easy and you’ll always be surrounded by more people when you do so, but you’ll also feel the most lonely and lost than you’ve ever felt. Why? Because you’re not here to blend in, you’re not here to look like everyone else, and you’re not here to simply adopt other peoples opinions and beliefs as your own. As soon as we learn how to think on our own, we are no longer at the mercy of others opinions and perspectives. All the sudden our identity comes from God and not from other peoples judgements or insecurities. When we realize God made us all beautiful exactly how we are, others are no longer able to determine whether we’re good enough, pretty enough, or smart enough. Guess what? You Are Enough. God doesn’t make mistakes, so don’t let anyone convince you of otherwise. Beauty is thinking for yourself and not letting others define you, God made you beautiful and unique, embrace your differences…that’s real beauty…"
